Is a Ducati worth the extra money?

I would get the 808 Evo model but the closest dealership is 2hrs away ( well thats if you stay around the speed limit) for only $ 3000 more ( around $ 70 in a monthy payment) I can't see why not to get over a CBR or Ninja since its made by Italians, sounds, & looks much better then a Jap bike.
Has anyone every rode a Duc , Do they feel better in power & comfort ? Do they cost a lot more to maintain. Are most of the riders stuck up ?Just give me your opinion on a Ducati over a jap bike
848 I meant, sorry
I not gonna take it to the track just for highway \
Which will hit 0 to 100 faster?
Im planning first to get a used smaller bike to get my license & past riders course, & when comfortable step up to one of these

It all depends on what you like.

I really like the basic Monster, but that's a style thing. There are lots of other bikes that perform better for a lot less money. That's really the Ducati's thing. It's beauty and style vs practicality and reliability. To me it isn't worth it, but to the next guy it's worth every penny.

On another note, most (not all) girls couldn't tell the difference between a $2,000 '88 GSXR 750 and a $40,000 2011 Ducati 1198 R Corse, and even if they did, they wouldn't care.

Honestly , In my opinion, no, unless you are a di-hard Ducati person, or if you are critical in superior handling and do a lot of riding that begs a superior handling bike. They are nice bikes, but they are very specific to a target audience and if you dont fit in that audience, then you are probebly wasting money for somthing that you wont truely use as its intended.

owned lots of Jap bikes.. currently ride a DUCATI 800sport..

all bikes are different... a lot of jap stuff is 4 Cylinder..

most of the Ducatis are twins... so its different power delivery..

comfort... sports bikes are not built for comfort.. so both the same..

cost to maintain is similar..

horses for courses.... its all about what you want???

& of course there is always the question?????????? how much time have you had on motorcycles???

sports bikes are not learner tools....

& 600cc jap sports bikes,, 808 Evo will not teach you good riding habits..
