Is a Ducati 848 good for a first motorcycle?

I think that's a bit too much power for ur first bike, and too expensive cuz odds are u will drop it, if insist on power get a 600, but it all depends on your age, size, insurence, and income

A Ducati is not a good starter bike, I suggest Honda. get a cruiser from Honda, it may not be a crotch rocket but it will stand up to more punishment then the other. Also up keep on Ducatis are a pain & expensive, I used to be a mechanic for my exgirlfriend who owned a Ducati. Ride a Honda cruiser first then after a year on the bike, once you know you are ready for a new bike trade up to a Ducati. Also make sure you have a really good job, I meant it when I said Ducatis are expensive. They don't call Ducati the Farari of the motorcycle world.

It could be a good learner bike and serve you quite well for years, it's a fairly good all around bike. I would suggest getting a cheaper used bike for your learner bike though since odds a good that it will be dropped. No sense on hurting both your pride and your wallet at the same time.

Any Ducati is like like learning to drive in a Twin turbo Ferrari or other exotic supercar.
Just how long do you think it will take that Oak tree to jump in front of you.
Depending on your physical size get a small un fairing used bike to learn on, Dents and dings don't count and 1 more doesn't make any difference. Dropping a new Ducati is traumatic.
Crashing is not the most common mishap, slow speed drops and falls are, you pull up to a stop at 1 MPH and put your foot down on a pebble and your foot slides out .
