As a professional mechanic I thought I could help others by posting information for do it yourself car mechanics. The website is about 6 months old and gets about 200 visitors a day. My 95% bounce rate would mean I am not offering what people want. Do you have any suggestions on topics to cover to increase stickiness. The website is at

http://www.youfixcars.com

This is an honest question from a mechanic to car owners as to what information they look for on the Net.

Being a auto/marine tech myself for over 30 years, and looking at your website , you provide a lot of reading material and your opinion of repair manuals. But you also make it difficult to actually figure out if you are trying to help someone , or just pass them off to somewhere else. Only saw 1 area to ask questions , and it was pretty generic, also did not seem to direct/guide the questioner as to what they should include regarding any pertinent info. You seem to like All-data. It`s not bad , but some of the diagrams look like something from a daycare center. I will stick to my old paper manuals to see an exploded view , and once I buy the manual , it is always there at no extra monthly cost. As you can probably tell , most of the people you are looking for are probably here. Have a look at these 2 sites to see their format, maybe you can get a few more idea`s. Good luck

Hello I'm a motorcycle mechanic and competent car mechanic. I have noticed most people want to know whats wrong with their car when they get engine management and other types of electrical problems. Which can be a hard to diagnose on line because their cars need to be put on a laptop or fault code reader to obtain the fault codes. So it leaves you guessing by the symptom's. I think it would be a good idea to educate people on how modern cars rely on various sensors that send information to the ECU for the car to run correctly. Also it would be a good idea to post what cars are reliable and what goes wrong with certain models. Like a buyers guide to good and bad models. As a bike mechanic I always advise people what bike would suit their purpose, and any modifications they might need. Hope this helps.

Of course, GREAT IDEA.
Checked out the site, decent. Downloaded some free advice.
But the however.
Is it free? Really no charge whatsoever?
Many sites advertise as such - until the 'money tip' enters the equation,
whereas we have the free answer, but you still have to pay us. Usually $20.
You certainly deserve compensation and aside from site adds, please state it right up front, that will help us decide to go further or not.
