Im a boy and im 16 years old, and I'm looking on craigslist for a car that is $4,000 dollars at most. I saw a 1999 Chevy Blazer for $3,700, and I'm wondering if that would be a good car. If its like a nerdy car for a teen, let me know, cuz I don't know that much about cars :P

Thanks.

Blazers aren't "nerdy," but you'd probably want to get something a little more reliable. I'd go for a Corolla or Civic, since this is your first car. Once you get a real job (have money) and learn how to drive, maybe then get something a little more fun, like a Mustang, etc.

No, it's not.

It guzzles gas (bad for teen's wallet) and is not very reliable (also bad for teen's wallet).

If you want a reliable, cheap SUV that gets 30mpg, get the Honda CR-V. You can buy a '97 or '98 for around $3700.

Plus, it has a built in picnic table to take girls camping. :)

no i think to start off those are nice cars. ya especially for a 16 year old male. cheap insurance and thats good because my frst car was a 2004 BMW M3 and lemme tell you paying 380 amonth (under my parents insurance too) is alot of money. then i had to make payments as well of 430 (under parents name) and wow too much money i was only making 1600 amonth because i was in high school. im 18 almost 19 now and i pay alot of insurance stilll on my STI and F150 its 980 a month for both. and i have a clean record lol.
so getting something cheap is a good idea and at that price its a good car.

you are better off with a small car that is good on fuel with a record for reliability, not a vehicle hard on fuel expencive to fix and costly to insure. try a 4 door cavalier, civic or like vehicle.
