my 3 year old had a radio flyer tricycle, but he is a pretty tall boy and his legs are already to long to fit on there. i don't know if he's to young to take it to the next step and put him on a bike w/ training wheels.

if he wants to let him. dont limit your child. if he doesnt feel comfotable with it yet, no big deal. atleast he got a bike :D

I don't think so. I think 3 is the perfect age to start with the training wheels so he will have lots of practice before he wants to take them off.

We gave our daughter a bike for her 3rd birthday. Like your son she had a tricycle so we were confident that she was ready for the bike. She's had it for 6 months now and fallend twice, though neither major, and even loves speeding down hills. As my husband rides road and mountain bikes he advised that we get her a bike with pedal brakes rather than hand brakes, as it's easier to learn the basics of how to brake, steer and balance.
