is a 2002 chrysler sebring a good car?

it has 117 000 miles and its being sold for 1500. needs back tires and belt.
is it safe and does it cost a lot to fix basic things?
 
Do you mean a timing belt? thats $400 to start. And since your at it, the waterpump is buried in there also and would be a good time to change also. I work at the factory where it was made. Safe, yes. Mine was rolled and stayed intact. Given all this, if the car is very clean and well maintained, then a $2000 investment might be ok. If its banged and worn inside, forget it
 
Parts are cheaper than those for imports. Also last year, Honda and Mitsubishi were both found to be concealing 70% of their recalls! And, Toyota had the most recalls in 2006.
