Is a 2001 Honda Civic worth 5000 dollars?

It is a 2001 Honda Civic, coupe, manual transmission with about 140k miles on it. I know that Honda's, especially the civic, is a great car to buy used, or so I've heard. But it seems like 5000 is still a lot to pay for this car that is approaching the 10 year mark. I am also thinking of buying an 05 cavalier, coupe, manual, for about 4000dollars, with 150k miles, but haven't heard much about the reliability of these cars as of yet. Any ideas about which one to get or if either are worth it?

Your wallet - your call.

No one can decide what something is worth to you, that's your responsibility.

Hence why auctions range so drastically in prices. Some people might see a car, think it's worth 5,000. Others would gladly pay 50,000 for it.

Also, ANY car can be a great car to buy used. It just depends on how they were maintained. There's plenty of new cars, that are run into the ground. And I have a car that's 30 years old, and drives great.

Make and model have basically nothing to do with it. All depends on the last owner.

It can be, but I would shop around more & compare prices. You could get a nicer Accord for that 5K price. Or a cheaper civic for 4K.
