Is a 2000 Ford Focus Hatchback a good used car to buy?

$2500 with 124,000 miles on it? Is that a good deal? Do they get good gas mileage? (I've researched, and it seems so) Are they good in the snow? Are they pretty reliable? What do you know about them?
Thanks!

The 2000 model was the first year for the focus and because of that it had a number of recalls. I would get the vin number and make sure all the recalls were done on it that and have a mechanic check it over also see if you can get any maintenance records with it. The timing belt replacement is something to see if it was done especially if its a dual cam engine. I get 32 mpg or more on the highway and mine has been pretty reliable nothing major.

yes, a ford focus hatchback is really nice, excellent gas milage high twentys in city and mid thirtys in hmy, they do good in snow because they are nice slick styling hatchbacks, but the tires are skinny too so it cuts through the snow. They are good with reliability because of how good the engines in them are. If i had enough money, id by it, so what are you waiting for. go get it, if you take good care of it, it can last way over 200,000 miles. Good luck to you and i hope you buy it
