is a 1996 ford winstar with 295000 km worth buying?

Hi im on a low income with 4 kids and i need a car. i'm about to buy a 1996 ford windstar for $600 with 295000 km on it. it was safetied on dec 1 2008. just wondering if anyone has one that can tell me if it is worth it or if its just going to be a piece of junk.
