clearance engine or whatever? If anyone can answer this question factually i would deeply appreciate it i just need to know if a 1996 dodge stratus 2.0 liter motor an interference motor or a closed clearance motor i know its called one of those two because my car broken down the timing belt went and i tried to crank it over a few times and pop start it and i was told that if it is an interference motor or a closed clearance motor then the vaulve would remain open and the piston would hit the vaulve so if anyone can tell me for sure if it is or isnt thank you...................ps. please try and have the utmost confidence when answering this question once again thank you very much for your input

The 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines are interference engines. If any valve(s) hit the pistons it will most likely be on the intake side. Remove the valve cover, cam, and rocker arm assembly and you can see if any valves are bent. Good luck.
