Is 2200 miles too late....

OHHHHH MY F***ING God.... I never knew changing so little can change soo much. The bike feels completely different. The chain looks awesome as well.. First gear goes way quick, and I'm shifting into 3rd at around 100mph (Indicated). This goes in as the one of the top 10 mods to do on the 848!!!!

Helo,
Congrats on your new goodies, I'm glad your happy with them!!! I think that I'm gonna get the 42T rear instead of my 41T one of these days. I'll probly wait until mine is ready to change out. I have around 6,500 miles on this one, so it will be a while down the road.
I put these gearing upgrades in the top 3 mods, that must be done!! Right up there with exhaust and aftermarket windscreens!!

Hey guys, i'm really liking this thread and am considering the same set up...

question: wouldn't changing the front or rear or both sprockets affect the speedo reading? Also, based on Helo's new set up, does he lose top end or low end? Lastly, can this set up be applied to a 1098S?

Thanks

Changing sprockets has no affect on the speedo reading - it comes from a sensor on the rear brake disc.
Gearing it down (larger on rear/ smaller on front) loses a bit off the top (

With my 848 having full Termi system... 6th gear was useless. I reached top speed of 163 (indicated) at the top of 5th. I think that I may have lost a very little bit of top end with the mod, but I will now have some acceleration in 6th that I never had before. This was the reason I went to this mod in the first place. I never really minded how it rode in the city at low speeds... just sort of dealt with it.... but when I went on the autobahn in Germany last summer 6th gear actually lost speed.... this showed me that the gearing was set up on the bike to meet EPA regulations and not there for performance....
just my 2c
