I have store credit from toysrus and i want to buy a laptop and its the new hp mini 16gb solid state flash module is that good? Or should i just buy a dsi? And i have a laptop but my parents really want one so i was going to buy the hp one and give my parents mine!

Solid State is quality, but all else set aside, 16 GB won't get you much farther than basic word processing documents and maybe a few pictures. You'll use it up pretty fast.

16B is good, but not great. I have a 4GB SSD on an Asus EeePC and have a full Linux distro on it. But that doesn't give me a lot of space for much else. A 16GB SSD will give you room for Windows and room for some apps and data, but consider that youu can get 160GB SATA drives...

A SSD drive is useful for situations where you have vibration or you want to extend the battery life of your laptop. For a desktop computer, they're not worth it.

SSD drives are interesting performance wise because they're always equally fast (normal HD are fast when they don't seek much, but get slower if the file is defragmented; you don't get this problem with SSD).

Also, read/write speed is not faster than a HD. So your computer might actually go slower.

Good luck!
