Is 1200cc's too much for me for my first bike?

I have the opportunity to trade my car for a '03 bandit 1200, its a pretty nice looking bike with a good maintenance record.
I've been mudding and done some small jumpin on 125's an 250's but that is dirtbikes, and im not sure how they compare. i hear weight has an issue here, i am 165 lbs but i am pretty strong and work out.
I thought since i am just starting to get into street bikes the best people to ask would be the ppl already riding..
plz note: i am not a dumb ass and i do want something fast that i will not get bored of.

1200 bandit is NOT a beginners bike...
if you're in the UK you've got to have your full license and there is no way in H£ll you are successfully going to get it restricted to 33 BHP if you've only got a restricted license.
It is just sub 100 BHP in standard but most are breathed on and ours was capable of 150 mph and produced just over 110 BHP. at 4500 it purred along the motorway and A roads at 70 MPH and the throttle was hardly off the stop, a knuckle wrapping throttle twist has any same man hanging on for grim death and instant G force accelleration/
No its not the fastest bike No it isn't the most powerful
It isn't a hyabusa... But it is the MOAB... Mother Of All Bikes..
It deserves respect..

If you have no street riding experience you need to get into a street riding course. The braking is really different. 1200 cc's from a 250 is too much. It doesn't matter how strong you are, you need to transition to a larger bike not just grab something that is 5-10 times the power of what you are used to.

Go to a Suzuki dealership and sit on one of the '09 models.
If the weight isn't to intimidating, the engine size shouldn't be that much of a concern.
The power to weight ratio is similar to a 250 2stroke MX bike.
Hit the gas and it GOESSSSSSSSSS

Probably not,
I got my first dirtbike last year, And it's a ktm rxc 620 Sprung for a big dude and I'm not a bike dude. I went down a lot at first but it's a dirt bike.
Just respect the bike.

A streetbike is nice to have but the dirt is better.

I'd wish they'd stop blacktopping all these road, it's causing GLOBAL WARMING.
