is 117,300 miles alot for a 2004 Mazda 3?

by the book, yes it is alot of miles, but typically engines today can take up to 200k niles at least, i know a guy who's toyota truck just hit 1 million miles and hes had it since 1980. so the engine should be fine, but the gear box may give around 140k or 150k, there are many things that you might need to replace in the transmission like the clutch or the fly wheel or the gears in the transmission might need replacement. if you are buying this car, then be care full. The engine is probably fine, but the gear box might already be shot, sometimes used car dealers (at least the stinchy ones) will put banana peals in the transmission. the car will un for up to a week and then you have to replace the whole thing, so be care full if your buying. if not then yeah its not alot of miles for the car.

The average driver drives 18,000 miles every year. Many people say that when buying a used car, its best to get one with an average of less than 15 k per year. So by those standards, saying your car is 5 years old, it has 23,460 mile per year, that's kind of high.
