Irish & British History Help? Easter Rebellion?

I know there is something about a failed invasion by Henry II in 1169. But what were the other causes of the rebellion, and what other Irish attempts to revolt were there? Anything you can tell me about the British counterstrikes, Irish revolts or just the Rebellion would be great help.

It all gets very confusing.
