Hi, my problem is that I have 2 receiver 5900 & 4100 I use 5900 for PVR and 4100 for HD. Both are in the same desk. I thought my 5900 was only UHF but it also use IR so when I use it the 4100 receive the same command. Is there a way to change IR settings in one receiver ?

Thank you !

Unplug the power to one of the units then change the remote ID on the other. Changing the remote ID is covered in the manual.

Simply change the remote adress of one of your receiver (preferably the 5900)

Press MENU, then 6, then 1, then 3
You will see system info on screen
Press SAT button and hold it until all top lights become red or flashes
Release the button
Enter a number between 2 and 16, preferable between 10 and 16
Press pound
Press RECORD 3 times

You're done!
Enjoy!

It doesn't always record the first time, that's why Bell TV reccommends to press 3 times...

It usually never record on the first time on my 9242

Hmmm, you must have the only 4100 that gets HD then.....lol

I guess you mean a 6100.?

I have a related question. I have an old 5900 that I'm not using anymore, and recently upgraded to 9242. The 9242 feeds the whole house through the coax. I'd like to use the UHF remote from the 5900 to change the 9242 from upstairs (the 9242's UHF remote is already being used in the basement).

I used the above procedure to set the 9242 and its UHF remote to code 10. I thought I could just press SAT on the 5900's remote and enter 10 for it too, but that doesn't work. How can I make the 5900's remote talk to my 9242?

Not sure you can. The 5900 Remote is UHF, the #2 remote for the 9242 is UHF PRO.

When the guy installed my 9242 he made sure to change the 9242's codes just in case I started using the 5900 again and it would interfere. Of course he could have been mistaken.

If the 5900 and 9242 are in the same room they could both be controled by one Remote via the IR portion of each Remote.

The problem won't be that the remote is pro or not but the key in the 5900 is not the proper blue #2 key.

I didn't think there was a "Key" in the 5900 Remotes. Not one that is removable anyway.

The 9242 #2 Remote will only work a 5900 (via UHF not IR) if you turn the BLUE "Key" so that the BLACK "UHF" shows, thus making me think that it really does matter.

Yes Pinza you are correct. The original remotes did not have keys.

Replacement remotes use the black UHF key for the 5800, 5900 models. I don't think the blue key will work.

I am pretty sure the 5900 remote will not control any other receiver either in IR or UHF mode.

I use an original 5900 remote to work my 3200 Tuner #1.

I was not aware that replacement remotes for the 5900 were different from the originals.

I am referring to the 6.2/6.3 replacement remotes that Dish Network sells which includes the remote and keys.

The remote works on many different receivers but you need to put a certain key.

6.2/6.3 replacement remote info

Bell 5900 = DVR-510

You should be able to program it, since it is UHF, you would have to adress the remote.
Menu 6-1-3 in SAT mode individualise the remote to adress 09 (probably not used). Then, adress the TV (Tv mode enter 500 press on power and browse channels UP untill TV shuts off. turn it on with remote. If worked and u can turn on tv, press on RECORD button.
U should be all set.
