ipod touch 4g wifi slow please help?

i bought an i pod touch 4g new a week ago and the wi-fi on it is slow i have 6 meg cable modem i can only download on my i pod at the speeds at about 20 to 40 kb s i have ran a speed test on my i pod and it says my download speed is 134 kbs and my upload speed is 139 kbs but on my computer it saying my download speed is 5 mbs and upload speed is 250 kbs what could be the problem
