it cannot work through the cigarette lighter, it works through the stereo system, if you have a tape player, then they have these things that look like a cassette and it has a wire that connects to your ipods headphone port, or you have to buy a CD stereo system which has a port, then you can buy the cord at radioshack or best buy, or any other electronic store, or it may come with it.
