iPod Interface on the Toyota Yaris?

I'm getting a new Toyota Yaris, and it comes standard with an MP3 jack. Do I need the optional iPod Interface that lets you control it through the wheel? Does the jack already play and charge the iPod, just controlled through the iPod's screen? I'm a bit confused?
 
1. it will not charge your ipod
2. if you have the setup from the factory, the steering wheel should work.
3. If it hooks up using a 3.5mm jack, then just go to radio shack and get the off brand for $3 instead of spending $15 for the one "made for the ipod" it's the same cable. just a different color
