iPod and XBOX 360?

hey,
i'm going to purchase an xbox 360.
i know you can plug your iPod to your xbox and listen to music from it, welll i was wondering, while your playing a game, is it possible to put your own music as the background music, like add your music to the games song playlist...
can you also do this on a PS3???

and would it work with GTA IV and HALO 3???
