ipod 3g 3.1.3 jailbreak stuck at apple logo?

Ok, i jailbroke it using spirit and i've had it jailbroken for over a year. Recently its been kicking me into safe mode on it when i reboot it and i didnt even install any new apps or anything at that point. Just the other day i downloaded appsync 3.1 i think it was, because the other version i had didnt work. Now when i try to turn it on it gets stuck at the apple screen. On itunes, it takes like 10 minutes to show up and then when i try to restore it i get an error message, this time "The ipod "RYAN" could not be restored. an unknown error occured (20000)." please help and i need suggestions. BTW my itunes is up to date, ive tried re-jailbreaking it, and none of it has worked
