iphone via bluetooth from my macbook pro?

I am deployed and I have a hard line to my MBP (ethernet) I can't plug in a router cause they will cut me off. I am trying to connect my iphone through bluetooth to pick up internet and transfer stuff. But I am getting pissed off because it will not connect. I went through the whole bluetooth set up, pairs fine but when i try to connect to network it goes green for a second, then goes red and gives me a error saying make sure its in range,paired is set up right. It is. I am so annoyed why it won't work. Please help me out. I love apple but this is getting me mad. Im overseas so I can't call. Any help would be awesome. Thanks
 
im pretty sure you cant use your iphone to connect to internet unless you hack it from the software version 1.1.1.

you need to jailbreak and and follow the information on this website
