I'm not eligible to upgrade for another 10 months. My g/f is eligible to upgrade, but likes her phone. Can she buy an iphone at the apple store, and then I can activate it with my account and number? If you purchase from the apple store don't you just walk in and buy the phone, but activate at home?

sucks you would have to switch numbers too. or you can just wait till it gets unlocked/jailbroken or wait till you can upgrade. OR wait till you can buy it with a no contract commitment. I don't know if you would have to get the data plan then?
