iPhone, N95, or ... ?

I drool over the iPhone for that large screen but the limitations of the iPhone make me pause (fixed battery, no video, etc). I currently have an SE W810i and love it. Basically this is want I want:

- music/video (+FM would be nice though not necessary)
- memory card slot (supporting 4GB or more)
- 2MP+ camera, must do video, preferably unlimited length
- a large screen so videos are practical to watch (the iPhone definitely wins here over anything else on the market today and is the sole reason I'm even considering it)
- Lotus Notes calendar sync (the W810i works beautifully for this over Bluetooth no less, though it's slow)
- GPS would be nice but is not necessary

Anything else currently available or coming in the next few months that I should consider? I'd like to stay with AT&T since I still have 18 months left to go so whatever phone I get would have to work on that network. The Meizu M8 looks like the true iPhone killer but it's a (relatively) long ways off and that's before Apple even may stop them for patent infringements.

iphone for sure. I have an iPhone. Here are my reasons why.

-you get 8GB worth of room.. Tell me what phone has even close to that with a memory card?
-You get streamed youtube videos, music, and your own video on your iphone.
-the camera on the iphone is amazing, so crisp and clear. no video, but why the hell would you wanan record a video in such small resolution anyway?
-Everything on your iphone is syncable on your PC, Calendar, contacts, and then music, videos, and picturs.
-Iphone has google maps, not really a need for GPS.

Other thoughts:

-internet browser on the iphone is amazing. It's like being on a MAC and using safari for real.
-on/off auto wifi is a beauty also. If there is a wifi signal it will connect automatically, so if there is faster data then yoru 3g it will use it automatically
-Oraganization on this phone is amazing. everything is so easy to use and it never locks up or freezes.
-The multiasking feature is amazing also. have it load a web-page while you write a text. and even have music playing while you do all that..
-battery life.. this is amazing. i had my iphone play music through my headphones all night, when I fell asleep on accident. (8HRS) about, and when I woke up the battery was still at around 1/2 - 3/4.

Hope this helps, that is my review on the iphone. It's an amazing phone.

It may sound kind of biased. but I had a Blackberry Pearl before I got my iphone, and I'm so glad I made the switch. I just love the iphone and it's features.

Ok heres the deal the iphone has a better interface, larger screen better ui, its easier to put it simple, the n95 matches it in everything u just said except for the 8gb built in, but the nokia n91 has 8gb built in and that was 2 yrs ago i think. n95 has same browser built on same format, n95 can stream youtube also, n95 has vga video recording u can watch it on your tv set with the tv in/out cable, n95 has wifi, n95 syncs with a mac or a pc, if u have a mac it will sync with itunes and load songs just like an ipod, n95 handles same format as iphone h264 video plus so many other video and audio files, n95 can handle 4gb cards and 8gb cards which are being released now, n95 has 5mp camera, also is unlocked, and if u travel u have no worries because any sim card will work, or if u leave for any other gsm carrier u still have a phone, n95 has stereo bluetooth has 3d gaming, it just has so much, in terms of features u really cant compare, in terms of ease of use the iphone will win probably. 1 last note the n95 has the european 3g also so u have many manyfeatures that are available, it also has full bluetooth, transferring files, it has voice dial, speed dial, it has built in gps, u can download google maps and tons of other programs, but ultimatley its up to u.

Theres another thread, giving the down-lo on both the phones. Seriously, if you wish to 'tweak' your phone or add on stuff, Iphone is the last phone to look at. And as the post above me specified why N95 is a better choice.

At the end, its either 'cool new UI' or 'powerhouse'. Take your pick.

n95 is pretty sweet.. but my luck with nokia's is terrible. The phone just doesn't look as sexy as the iphone.. c'mon now. :P is the nokia n95 touchscreen?

- music/video (+FM would be nice though not necessary)
iPhone has no FM tuner. N95 does.

- memory card slot (supporting 4GB or more)
iPhone has no memory card slot. N95 does.

- 2MP+ camera, must do video, preferably unlimited length
iPhone cant do video at all. Camera is very weak with no autofocus or flash
N95 does VGA video and has a 5mp camera.

- a large screen so videos are practical to watch (the iPhone definitely wins here over anything else on the market today and is the sole reason I'm even considering it)
iPhone certainly has a nice big pretty screen

- Lotus Notes calendar sync (the W810i works beautifully for this over Bluetooth no less, though it's slow)
I dont know about this, but I do know Nokia PC Suite can sync with Lotus. Over bluetooth. Uncrippled bluetooth is nice.

- GPS would be nice but is not necessary
It sure would be nice. N95 has it built in.

Nothing I can think of, but I would instead recommend getting the Nokia E90 instead of the N95.

BIG screen, nicer battery and more RAM than N95, qwerty. VGA video and 3MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

The Nokia E61i. Subtract the iPhone's really beautiful iTunes interface and the E61i can match or surpass the iPhone in every catagory. And at $200 less.

I think a large screen and a good easy to use web browser is the main reason I'm even considering an iPhone. What would the next best choices be? Everything else I've looked at can't compare as far as screens go (usually half the resolution and nearly a full inch less in diagonal than iPhone). I know Opera Mini is the way to go but you still need screen real estate to make it a pleasant and useful experience.

The upcoming Miezu M8 looks awesome but it's at least 6 months away I guess.

Yeah, but how TWEAKABLE is it?

To the OP, many of the Nokia N-Series phones will do pretty well. Anything Symbian should sync your Lotus stuff, and most of them have at least a 2 MP camera. None of them will have as big a screen as the iPhone, but you're trading a memory card, video recording, and an FM radio for that screen. You're the only one who can decide if the tradeoff is worth it.

Bottom line: If you want a cool toy, get the iphone. If you want great online multimedia, get a WM6 3G smartphone (HTC, probably). If you want a reliable smartphone (PIM) and emailing for use as a business device, get a Blackberry.

I wonder if you really have looked into other phones or just a iphone fanboy.

iPhone is not a 3G phone. Any 3G phones on a 3G network can do better streaming than iPhone.

iphone's camera is amazing? Even my old W800i w/ autofocus lens is better than it.

"why the hell would you wanan record a video in such small resolution anyway?"
When all my of my friends were using Razr (1st gen cannot record video), every time I took out my old K700i or W800i to record video, they felt bad that they couldn't do it with their Razr. Resolution is certainly week, but it's still convenience and useful when you need to record some special moment that you don't want to lose.

The N93i, N95, E90 can record 640x480 video 30fps video, that's just one of the many reasons Nokia didn't make $400 profit from the phone like what Apple just did to your pocket. Everytime I showed the videos to my friends, they're amazed about what my N93i phone can do.

I run Tomtom on my N93i and also Treo before (w/ bluetooh gps receiver). Built-in GPS on N95 is certainly a plus.
I used Google map before on my old W800i, I certainly know the difference.

Also, Google Map can run on any Java phones, it's nothing special, but you certainly need a good data plan (or the bill will kill you).
GPS doesn't need a data plan, if not using realtime traffic info.
