Iphone/iPod Touch application help? FindMyIphone question.?

So i just downloaded the Find my Iphone application so i can always track my iphone in case in gets stolen. But now i have a question. If someone stole my ipod and restored it on itunes, will is still be able to track the ipod if the application isnt on the ipod anymore. If im right, how can i prevent that?
