Maybe someone can help me out. I would like to have an Iphone which I can use for free incoming / outgoing calls and texts while on a wifi network. When I am not on a wifi network I would like to have it use ATT's "Simple Rate Plan" of 10 cents / min. I would like to keep my current phone number.
-I have a Google Voice account with a GV number.
-I have an old ATT phone which is past the 2 year contract and is going month to month right now.
What I plan on doing / think will work...
If I buy a used unlocked Iphone (going on craigslist for ~100 bucks). Port my Google Voice number for 20 bucks so I can keep my current number. In-turn doing so will cancel my current ATT plan. Put in my old sim card into the Iphone / sign up for the "Simple Rate Plan".
First of all will this work? Second, is there a way I can keep my current sim and sign up for a "Simple Rate Plan" or will I have to purchase a new super cheap phone from ATT then put that sim into my iphone? Lastly, will the iphone automatically use free google voice while on a wifi and the 10 cent / min plan while not on a wifi network?
