iPhone 4 vs. Galaxy S vs. BB 9800

I was going to make this thread but add The Desire to it.

Which one are people most intruiged about? For me its a toss up between the Desire and the 9800. I think I might get both.

For me, it's gotta be the iPhone 4 right now. The Galaxy S platform just isn't mature enough and there are tons of software glitches, slowdowns, gps problems with them right now.
The Bold 9800 will be more your style if you like the form factor. (pull down keyboard)

Of this particular group? The iPhone 4. Antenna flaw aside, it's fast, has an amazingly sharp display, and has software which is considerably more accessible for the average person than the others.

I can't help but get the feeling that the Galaxy S will be a big gotcha for buyers. Looks good now, but Samsung isn't known for supporting a ozone for more than a few months past its release. I'm really not counting on Android 3.0 for that device. And while the custom UI isn't the worst I've seen, most give the nod to HTC's Sense UI.

One thing's for sure: the BlackBerry 9800 has an uphill battle. RIM has yet to show that it actually understands touchscreens, and that's what the 9800 is in a nutshell. OS 6 really doesn't change the paradigms behind the platform, either, so it's going to feel like a pretty version of the software BlackBerries have had for years. Could be RIM finally jumping the shark.

The Galaxy S platform requires fixes on how it caches and the GPS, which on the HTC appears faster to lock and more accurate. Having said that, they appear due for a Froyo build in September. In the end I may still recommend HTC or Motorola, but if Samsung can fix these issues they will move ahead.

iPhone 4 has glitches more than just the antenna glitch. They still have the voice dropping problem, and a sensor proximity problem. iOS4 has a number of glitches I've observed on my iPod Touch. Speed and battery life is down. I got people reinstalling iOS3 on their iPod Touches and 3GS phone. iOS4 maybe the Vista of iOS.

The BB 9800 is not yet out and therefore remains an unknown. Also has a number of problems I've encountered with the BB OS.

iOS 4 on the iPhone 4 itself is not bad. I've never had the proximity sensor glitches. (Or the signal, call dropping problem for that matter.)

Samsung's Touchwiz 3.0 is kind of a mock iPhone UI. The reason most give a nod to HTC Sense, is that they find Touchwiz 3.0 a bit too iPhony for their tastes.
