Iphone 4 or Palm Pre Plus for Verizon?

I am making a switch from the Droid Eris, which is a smart switch to take? I also text a lot, is the iPhone 4 good with texting even if it doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard? Which battery lasts the longest? Thanks for your help(:
