iPhone 3GS with user code 3.1.3 Unlock help??

Hi,
I have an iPhone 3Gs with the user code disabled as a young child played with the phone until it was disabled. Now I want to restore to 3.1.3 but iTunes giving me error. I dont want to update to 4.0 as I am planning on jailbreaking this phone. Please tell me best way out.

put the iphone in dfu mode how?

5 sec home button 10sec power button without realising power button after realise power and keep holding home for25 sec and after restore with itunes and thats it enjoy
 
Yes sir that would work but if you want to use back 3.1.3 you hold shift ket and select the 3.1.3 firmware, but itunes keep giving me error , It wants me to update to 4.0 but I want to be able to jail break the phone and 4.0 is not yet supported.

bro use this it will work in your case i know it is for downgrade but use the last part for your prob i hope that will help

no solution yet t reset y user code.;only way t restore it ..it s via itunes firmware version will 4.0 ..phone can t be unlocked
 
Yeah I have been trying that from this morning. But it wont even just update the firmware part , as it starts to connect i get error:- "the iphone could not be restored, unknown error occured (3194)"

Has anyone been able to try the same trick with 4.0, meaning start the update with 4.0 and before it can finish stop the process and then try to go back to 3.1.3?
 
Bro U Can Restore 3.1.3 IF U Have SHSH For 3.1.3 This IS The only Solution

are you sure you did the second step correctly bro

Step 2:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and locate
 
go to c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc ........open hosts file with notepad and add this string 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to the end of the document then turn off the phone then hold power and home button at the same time and after 10 seconds release the power button and continue holding home button that will put your phone in to dfu mode but when you do this make sure your phone is connected to the computer with itunes open
 
I have also tried this too. It seems like definately can't restore to 3.1.3 3GS. Oh man so I have to update to 4.0 and wait for unlock.

Ok, but should my hand set be jailbroken first on 3.1.3. It was never JailBroken before. Will it still work?

And as in that thread they say it wont work anymore for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 because Apple is now only signing 4.0. So I guess I will have to wait untill Jailbreak for 4.0 is completed.
