iphone 3gs phonecode disabled ?

someone plz clear ....there r some doubts...
i have one 3gs that is phonecode disabled .....i dont remember its firmware version it may be 3.1.2 or 3.1.3
so is there any way to upgrade it to 3.1.2. or 3.1.3 and can someone confirm if i can save shsh or ecid in recovery mode for this iphone 3gs

i have yet not updated to 4.0.1 its phonecode disabled and old version ( maybe 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 ) when i power on it.....
 
one more question ...
then whats ECID and shsh that is saved by autoshsh grabber in recovery mode , whts its use ?
and is it 100% sure that now i have to update my phone to 4.0.1 ?
is there no way to save it ?
 
ok someone tell if i have iphone 3gs 3.1.3 and i already have made " make my life easier"
so with which process would i be able to restore again to 3.1.3

by " cahanging host file " method or tiny umbrella "start tss server " method ?
