iPhone 3GS or HTC Inspire 4G?

I'm ready to get my first smartphone. I've been using an iPod touch for a few years and love it. I'm hearing good and bad things about Android. I like that you have turn-by-turn directions on the Android and that you can customize your text tone (I'm shocked you can't on the iPhone). However, I've heard the battery life is bad. Is it worse than an iPhone 3GS?

Does one have a better speaker? Ringer volume?

Since I'm used to the iPod touch, there'd be no learning curve. However, I don't want to pass on an Android if it'd be better in my situation.

I have to be on AT&T (family plan) and I'm choosing between the iPhone 3GS and HTC Inspire. Which would you recommend and why?

I should mention:

- I work in IT
- I have no desire to jailbreak unless it's simple
- I'm a big Google user

There is no comparison between iPhone 3GS and the HTC Inspire 4G. It's pretty simple, one is 3G and the other is 4G. I am not sure about the speaker and ring volume, but the HTC Inspire is the better choice because you are a big Google user. I would recommend the HTC, just because you've been so attached to Apple. It might be fun and exciting to try something new!

P.S. The Battery life is drained extra fast on any phone when the GPS is on.
