iphone 3gS or HTC Hero

I currently have the iphone 3g and looking to upgrade to the 3gs in January, however I saw a demo of the HTC Hero on Youtube and fell in love with it!
Here is my dilemma, right now the Hero is offered on Sprint only! Sprint sucks :disappoin
Anyway, I love my iphone apps, but the plan is just outrageous, but I'm feeling the Android thang! :2thumbs: What would you suggest????

You won't get 3G with the Hero on att. Media functions aren't nearly as good as iphone's and not as many apps. I'm considering trying Android but with a better device, like upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X3(now X10).

I'd still get the iPhone because of the sheer number of applications, and believe it or not, the HTC is NOT as fast as the 3GS. However - Android is seeing rapid development, and will probably be a real contender next year when SE/Moto's android models hit the market full-scale.

The Hero imo is a better phone. I like listening to Pandora and browse the web at the same time, check emails, reply to text, etc... without closing/pausing Pandora. Can't do that with an iPhone. Yeah, I tried the backgrounder app from Cydia.. iPhone can't handle multitasking without crashing.

The iPhone may have more apps but I like the no approval process from Google. There's an app like dtunes from cydia on the Android market for free. It download free music directly to your sd card and you can export it to itunes.... I'm surprised it haven't been pulled.

If you don't mind shelling out the extra cash for fewer mobile services, and live in a decent AT&T signal area, I'd go with the 3Gs. It offers the best combination for software and hardware in a mobile device IMO.

You can't fix the inherent flaw of having a broken notification system (no hardware light or indicator of new messages without being near it when it comes on or turning on the screen obsessively) with a jailbreak unfortunately :(

I'd go with the iPhone at this point!

People said the Pre was the next big **** and it would stand upto the 3GS, HAH!! I use it everyday for work, and I can't stand it!!! The touch-response, battery, keyboard, LAG!, build quality....all suck!! And, I don't miss the Pre biggie "Multitasking" because my JBen 3GS multitasks just fine and with ZERO crashes!

I'm excited about the next big phone just as much as anyone, but the way it stands now...no phone supercedes the 3GS!!

thanks for all the info. I like the new DROID, but I wish it would have the HTC sense UI. Anyway my iPhone contract is up in Jan 2010, so hopefully the HTC will have something a lil faster (video playback) then there HERO or ERIS. Maybe the SONY XPERIA X10 (Android, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4-inch touchscreen, 8.1 megapixel camera, and of course, the 'Rachael' UI). Just have to wait and see!

i dont know man, my friend who i talk to every day has the pre and he doesn't have any of those problems. the way you describe it i would think you're talking about an entirely different phone altogether than the pre.

I'm on my third Pre! The first one had a very very bad slider ( Oreo effect as it's popularly known ) I thought the N95 had a loose slider! The Pre trumps it!

It also had a very noticeable lag when opening any application!

Sprint acknowledged the problem and gave me a new one.. The second one's battery was worse than my iphone's!! 2 hrs of usage at best! The first one would last at least 6

The third one, again brand new from Sprint, has a progressively developing bad slider, it freezes often, and battery life is very erractic!

The touch screen is also no where as smooth as the iPhone!

Cramped keyboard is a common problem on Pre! I'm also a Sprint dealer with a few stores accross the states and we are getting a lot of exchanges and returns on the Pre! The Pixie is no better! All this in FW 1.2.1 and no Homebrewing or Preware apps. WebOS is great, just needs better built phones and some tuning.

Even my Sprint rep has switched from the Pre to Pro 2!

The Pro 2 is nice, but it's a brick! Plus, I'm not a WM person until WM 7!
