iPhone 3Gs not charging . stuck at apple logo

The iPhone is stuck on the apple logo and is not being detected by itune. The battery is very low, it boots up to the apple logo and hangs, then it turns off without the battery being charged.

I cannot get it to go in recovery mode and it is not being charged in the current status.

connet to system,run itunes
press and hold power and home button together 10..15 seconds
it wil detect
