Iphone 3gs modem firmware problem?

Hey i had 4.2 firmware on my Iphone 3gs and i downgraded to 4.1 and the baseband was upgraded so i tryed to put ipad baseband on the iphone now when i go to settings general and about under the modem firmware it doesnt say anything, What should i do please help this is my only phone
