Iphone 3g white screen of death?

about a year ago my iphone 3g went to a white screen. Ive looked up all the videos on how to fix it, and no help. like the vids all about hard resets. Yeah doesn't work!!!!! when my phone broke, there were gray lines all over, but now its just plain white. i can still use it like make calls, swipe it to unlock it, select apps. so everything works, but just cant see it on the screen. i updated it, didnt work. took it apart and re connected everything, didnt work. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX IT? have you experienced the same thing
