IPHONE 3G; how can i switch numbers?

I can not upgrade my number for another 5 to 6 months. But i could easily add a line for $10 and get an iphone but the number will be different and i can't just swap sim cards because the iphone sim card is specially customized for that specific number. So i was wondering if its possible to switch numbers with the new line or change my number and then change the number to the new line to my old number?
 
call tech support or read the manual..........however i strongly believe that u can switch #s with the new line n u dnt have to change ur #
