iPad or $500 worth of investments (stocks/bonds)?

Ok yahoo answer campers, here's one for ya! College student. Get an iPad (16 GB w/ WIFI) or use $500 for investments in my Roth IRA? I know the answer is obvious, but please justify your reason oh wise one!
