iPad can you connect Sprint 3g service using teetering app?

I know that with a laptop and a phone that has an internet data package you can use a teeter app on your phone to connect your laptop to the internet using your phone as a modem.

Is it possible to use an app for the iPad to do something similar to connect to a Sprint smart phone?
