Chemistry Homework

So I've saved up some money and I want to spend it. I deciding between an iPhone and an iPad 2. Here's the thing, my mom's computer broke a while back so I gave her my laptop. I was thinking I should buy an iPad to replace it. I don't want to buy a laptop because in 2 years I'll be going to college and I would rather buy a new laptop then, instead of now. The only thing I need is something that looks up information on the internet quick for school, like wikipedia, and has a simple word processor, which the iPad has. I was also thinking about getting the iPhone and maybe wait for the 5th one to come out. The problem is that iPhones are actually more expensive than the iPad when you have to pay for the plan. Plus I don't really need the plan since I have wifi everywhere around me. And I think the iPhone is hard to use since it has such a small screen, and I don't have any intrest in the apps, except for the iPad's time warner cable and netflix apps. But I still really like the iPhone. So should I get the iphone or ipad? And will the iPad meet my needs?
