I used my own wireless motorola gateway with my charter account 1. Then I closed the account. Two month later I open a new account 2 with charter and used a wired modem provided by charter. Two weeks later I called charter to change the modem to my own wireless motorola gateway that I was using with my charter account 1.
I noticed when I was using account 2 with the wired modem, it had a completely different IP as my charter account 1.
And after I switched to the old motorola gateway. The account 2 IP changed, and the first 4 digit are the same as my account 1 when I was using this same motorola gateway.
So my question is.. Is it likely I have used this new IP with my account 1 before? Since the 4 digits are exactly the same?
My understanding is charter has a pool of IPs for their user with dynamic IP. And our IP could change from time to time. But how likely I would get the same IP on two different services with the same wireless motorola gateway? If not likely, is there a reason the first 4 digits are the same?
I don't ever want the same ip as I had before.
