Iontophoresis...

I have a question regarding iontophoresis...

Im an avid soccer player and of course my time has come for being injured. And in december i injured my ankle. Months and months have passed(9 to be exact) and no diagnosis had been made by my doctors or physical therapists. The most recent guess at what was wrong with my ankle was that I have posterior tibial tendonitis. and they suggested that i should get treated by iontophoresis. (with dexamethasone, as the steroid)

Anyhow, 2 days into my treatment, i take off the bandage as usual at school and i saw nothing wrong with my ankle. BUT about two hours later i noticed a huge pigment change where that patch was, it almost looks like i have a new birthmark the size of a quarter where the patch was just a couple hours before.

Almost immediately i drove back to the therapists, scared that something was wrong. They didnt have the slightest clue whats wrong. Im meeting up with a skin doctor tomorrow morning but i want to see if i can get an answer before the morning because i dunno if ill be able to sleep tonight if i dont get one. O.o

is this a big deal? will it go away within a couple days?
any insight on this is appreciated...im slightly worried!

thanks!
