well unless you want to wait until feb 10th, the dvd screener leaked on the internet yesterday.

im def gonna watch this as i cannot wait that long, heard very good things about this movie. 3 golden globes nominations for morgan freeman, matt damon and clint eastwood.

why is there such a long wait until the movie gets released in the uk? i would of though a south african movie would be popular over here since there is going to be a football world cup coming up in south africa.

The reason for the difference in release dates is that for films to be eligible for the awarRAB season, they need to be released in America by the end of the year. However, it makes more financial sense to hold them back here until the hype starts to build around them come awarRAB season i.e. January and February.

Oh, and congratulations on hammering anyother nail into the coffin of cinema. If you can't wait to see this film this much, why are you effectively stealing it?

People think that downloading films off the internet isn't actually piracy, but it is. If someone downloaRAB a film, then it's highly unlikely that they'll pay to see it at the cinema or buy it on DVD.

This results in less revenue for the movie companies, which means they have less money to make films. This results in both less films being made and less creative risks being taken in those that are made.

piracy helps the industry fools, it's a proof.

The Box office intakes are always increasing, the government and rich industry fools you by saying it's the recession. Also the amount of audience has always been increasing. DVD sales are always rocket high, see proof for films like Dark Knight or Iron Man.

Do research rather than relying on the MEDIA.

Xmen Wolverine leaked a month before releasing and ended up making $400,000,000 million. Similar to the other Xmen films.

I am legend leaked a whole week before releasing and ended up making $600,000,000.

I even watched both screeners my self and saw them at cinema, and even got both blu rays.

I can show you my cinema tickets as proof as I keep them and my blu ray collection. I support the industry, rent film and buy them and also pirate a few.

Piracy is helping believe it or not.
See the amount of good documentaries released.

Infact more films are being made due to more box office intakes, and is that why more expensive films ahve been made in the recent 2-3 years.

Avatar, Spider-man 3, POTC, Harry potter HB, Naria, King KOng, Superman Returns, X-men 3, Transformers etc;

I could sit here all day with you folks and have a good laugh.

I'm not being a prick or an jackass but it's the truth. The industry prides it self and there isn't much we could do expect for believe in their world.

The reason that these films are getting made are that these are the films that will draw people into the cinema, as they have to be seen on the big screen. It's the smaller films that are suffering as a result. Steven Soderburgh recently said in an interview with Empire that you can't go into a meeting to pitch a film and say worRAB like 'reflective' or 'thought provoking', as you'll just be laughed out the room.

Also, I applaud you for pirating films and then still going to the cinema to see them, but I'm afraid you're in the minority. My local indepdent cinema is on the verge of closure at the moment, as people are pirating films (not even good copies - the ones with bad sound and people walking in-front of the screen) rather than going to the cinema.

I disagree with youto a certain extent, you mentioned Steven Soderburgh who's movies made loaRAB of money. This has mean a major issue in Hollywood for a very long time that smaller and independent films don't make much money. It's been the norm way before Piracy.
Plus Steven Soderburgh is raking in alot of money for having Clooney and Damon in every one of his films. His really an over-rated director by all means. Che was extreamly long and flopped maybe not critically, also most audience don't like reading subtitles which is a shame. I've enjoyed many South Korean films that have got a lot of recognition due to Piracy.

Horror films are really quite cheap and make a fourtune but the problem is no one likes to see long drama in cinema, I'd rather enjoy myself and maybe rent films like "There will be blood" and enjoy it at home (which by the way I loved). I just can't see myself liking that, although I recently saw "Me and Orson Welles" at the cinema and there was only 5 of us in the cinema. The film hasn't even leaked yet but I'm sure they make a lot of their money back on DVD because of all the Oscar buzz. Even though it had Zac Effron girls didn't bother seeing it!

You'd be suprised how many Oscar nominated films have been flops over the years but gained popularity after the ceremony. Hence releasing Oscar films late around the world, to make up for it's loss in the US.

Now that the OP has seen Invictus he may likely spread the word on the forums who good the film was and create more buzz for the film.

Edit: BTW: I read that interview with Steven, I'm a sub with Empire too. ;)

I know a lot of frienRAB over the net who have a massive collection of DVRAB and Blu rays, it's mostly the low life that don't bother.

If people can't afford it then fair enough, why not pirate it when your not gonna watch it. I remember when I was younger missed a hell of alot of films as we never had much money to rent or visit the cinema. I still feel bad for myself back then as I'm a real movie buff. It's just a matter for choice but don't take what the media states and thats all I'm saying.

Explains the glut of remakes!!!

Seriously though, research carried out by non studio researchers have indicated that those that download the film are very likely to buy the DVD on release. Most piracy is try before you buy sort of thing.
