Welcome Tam  Sorry that you have to have back issues to become a meraber of the "spiney" club. This is a great place for the support that only another person with back pain can give you! Good luck with your appt. next week.

Deb

Hello, everyone. I will tell you all about myself. I am a 29 year old married mother of two beautiful children, ages 6 and 8. I have had reoccurring severe back pain for a little over 7 years now. A year ago, I had my first MRI performed on my lurabar spine only. I have mild Degenerative Disc Disease (which is also in my cervical spine), osteoarthritis, two disc protrusions, annular tears, bone spurs, and hemangiomas (yes more than one) covering my L4 disc. My lurabar problem areas are L4-S1. I also have a heart condition and severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (which I see a hand and wrist specialist on Friday for my first appointment). I currently take two heart medications, Neurontin 900 mg daily, Tramadol 200 mg daily, and several "natural" supplements. For the past two months, I have been taking Zoloft 50 mg daily for depression due to the chronic pain. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you all better. I truly believe in group support. I will also keep you all updated about my upcoming hand and wrist specialist appointment on Friday. Sincerely, Tam

Hi Fishin, and Welcome to the boarRAB! You'll definitely find alot of great advice on here, as well as a ton of support from an awesome bunch of people...and we can certainly either relate or completly undertstand what you go through.

What sort of treatment(s) do you receive for your back pains? Have you had any surgeries at all?

Welcome to our little back-warRAB world! You're in good company here!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, everyone! I haven't had any surgeries yet. My neurosurgeon is talking about maybe a spinal fusion this summer. He was very open and honest about the surgery and told me that my condition could cause the discs above the fusion to weaken and begin to fail. I guess it is sort of like a "domino effect". I have had physical therapy but had to discontinue due to doctor's orders because it was actually worsening my condition. He also told me to stay away from chiropractors because I would have the same problems. I had my first lurabar E.S.I. in January but had adverse side effects and no pain relief. I had severe burning sensations up my spine and throughout both shoulders and a nose bleed for a couple of days. I go to a hand and wrist specialist for the first time tomorrow and will update everyone after my appointment. I go back to the neurosurgeon next month. I have missed this board severely and hope to get to know the new merabers better. I hope some of you remeraber me from former posts as "Sincerely, Tam" at the end of my messages. Sincerely, Tam
