Introducing A Cynic To The Bond Films

I know several people who dismiss James Bond films as "sexist rubbish" and cant understand their appeal and why they are shown so much on tv and are still more popular than ever after over 40 years. It's mainly females who find the early Connery ones extremely sexist when Connery refers to the leading lady as "the girl"! But I try to explain that they are now more politically correct in that sense. (Although these same people are quick to point out how dishy Daniel Craig is and how Sean Connery is the sexiest man alive!)

So my question is this. Which Bond film would you show to someone cynical to prove they are great action films with something for everyone and the leading ladies are a match for Bond and not just eye candy.

The most annoying thing is those who actually think that Casino Royale is a remake of the David Niven spoof from 1967. What an insult!!

So for an all round not too sexist enjoyable Bond film for the unafficiated which one would you choose as a good overall representation of the entire series?

Funnily enough, I would probably say Casino Royale...it doesn't have the 'cheese' of some Bond films (ie: All the Roger Moore films) - it's clever, witty, gritty and a great action film. I would also recommend Goldeneye, or either of the Timothy Dalton films.

Goldeneye & Casino Royale are my own two personal favs.

If your looking for an oldie, From Russia With Love is also worth watching.

I've never dismissed James Bond films as "sexist rubbish"
They were of their time. That's how people spoke then.

As far as I am concerned, the early Sean Connery films are the best -

Sean Connery starred as James Bond a total of 7 times in

Dr.No (1962)
From Russia With Love (1963)
Goldfinger (1964)
Thunderball (1965)
You Only Live Twice (1967)
DiamonRAB Are Forever (1971)

Never Say Never Again (1983)

Well I hate all the Bond movies but sat one night and watched Casino Royale out of sheer boredom and actually ended up enjoying it
