In debate we've started with Interpretive reading. I have no idea what to do so can you give me some ideas?
"Interpretive Reading combines at least one piece of poetry and one piece of prose tied together with a theme. Theme choices are endless; they may include things such as love hurts, Christmas memories, lessons from athletes, mothers, waitresses, vegetables, etc. The reading should include an introduction and transitions in which the authors, titles, and theme will be stated. The authors of the prose and poetry portions must be different. This needs to be closer to acting than reading. Interpret the words; become the characters. The task is to reproduce not only the words but also the thoughts, emotions, and effects of the electrons. You must be able to interpret the meaning of the selections and be able to carry the interpretation over into the minds of those who hear. Time limit is 8 minutes."
So can someone help me out? I don't have a clue what to do for the theme. so please, please give me some ideas. if not, please post a favorite poem and maybe I'll get an idea from that. Thanks!
