IMPRESSION: Degenerative disease of the discs and apophyseal joints-at theL4-5 and L5-S1 Levels. Very broad -based central protrusion of -the disc which is eccentric to the left, and marked spinal stenosis -at the L4-5 level with an interval increase in the degree of spinal stenosis. Very broad based central extrusion of the disc eccentric to the left and narrowing of the neural foramina at the L5-S1 level. Interval extension of the left L5 hemilaminectomy, disappearance of the large sequestered disc fragment previously present in the left lateral recess at the L5 level, and appearance of enhancing epidural scar tissue in this recess about the descending left L5 nerve root.

What does this mean. I got the results and my appointment is 6 weeks out. Help please.

One important question is - what symptoms are you experiencing? The test results are indicating there are some disc problems but the key to any disc problem is if it causing any nerve impingement (do you have pain? leg or foot nurabness or weakness?)

Presently I am experiencing LBP with Pain going to both sides and down my left hip, leg and calf. I have had 3 previous surgeries at L5 S1 (laminectomy,Left 1991), L5 S1 (discectomy,2003), L4 L3 (discectomy Jan 2009). The last herniated disc problem has also left me with drop foot on my left side. I was improving well until Apr 2009. Things seemed to began to get worse. Most days I can hardly move due to severe pain and stiffness. What I submitted was the last results of my MRI that I had on Sep 23, 2009. My doctor is unavailable for 6 weeks.
