Internet is Slow!!! Verizon DSL!?

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and my NIC is Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. I even reinstalled Windows to see if that fixed the problem unfortunately it did not. I have 1 mbps connection from Verizon and i called them and they said your connection is fine. What is the problem i have been getting like 200 kpbs connection. I have windows XP thanks for the help!
 
Where are you getting 200kbps from ??? downloads can only be downloaded at the rate it is being uploaded too u, so if you got this speed ur saying from somthing like a torrent download then its mostelikley because theres not enough people uploading the file too u at your maxamimum internet connection speed "1mbps". this doesnt really make sence though because u say your internet connection speed is 1mbps but then u say your downloaded at 200kbps which is about 2mbps.
