interesting fantasy books that take you away from reality?

i would really like some recommendations of really really good fantasy books. Preferably books with settings in a fictional world, with spectacular scenary, loveable characters (no mary sues however), some mythical creatures, wizards, witches, goodies vs the baddies, on a quest, interesting and amazing plot and the overall fantasy cliche. easy (but not too easy) to read preferable
NO TWILIGHT
I want a completely alternate universe and it has to be completely fantasy.
 
1. 'His Dark Materials' a.k.a the best trilogy in the world. They actually are the most popular fantasy books that have ever been written and by Phillip Pullman. There's a film called the 'golden compass' based on the book 'Northern Lights' from the trilogy, its rubbish, read the books, so much better! No mythical creatures, but is magical and still a fantasy and not only a great read, but a great piece of literature. Really takes you away from reality

2. Try something by Neil Gaiman because he's just the best! And my favourite author. His best book I've read so far is 'The Graveyard'. At first sight it seems like a childrens book, but it is for adults too. There's also 'Anansi boys', 'Stardust', 'American gods' (haven't read yet) and 'Smoke and 'Mirrors (reading atm). He's also the author of 'Coraline', which is out in cinema's atm (also haven't read yet). Not about Mythical creatures specifically, but is about Gods and stuff, but isn't religious.

3. I'm guessing if you're a fan of fantasy books, you have read HARRY POTTER! LOL! Really takes you away from reality.

4. 'The twilight saga' by Stephenie Meyer, however the fourth book 'Breaking Dawn' is absolutely rubbish. So if you're someone who once has started reading a series has to finish reading the series, I wouldn't read these books because breaking dawn is such a dissappointment. All about vampires.

5. Anything by Stephen King, haven't read his books, but he is apparently one of the best. Contains mythical creatures.

6. J. R. R. Tolkien. Who wrote 'The Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings', which is about hobbits, dwarfs, wizards, Orks and loads of other creatures.

7. Also heard of something called the spiderwick chronicles, but I have no idea what it is about. By Holly Black.

Try J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia, Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea series, also Terry Brooks' The Sword of Shannara series. You may also like R.A. Salvatore's series involving the drow Drizzt, they are fast paced, filled with adventure. For something a bit different, try Peter David's humorous trilogy Sir Apropos of Nothing or Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. This series is sci-fi, but it has a strong feel of fantasy about it.

Why do people keep recommending Twilight as a fantasy when it is not even urban fantasy, it's ROMANCE PARANORMAL. Sorry, it is a personal pet peeve.
