Interesting earthquake stories?

Does anyone have any interesting or perhaps funny earthquake stories/experiences?

Here's mine:

Where I live we had a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in September. It happened at around 4:30 in the morning. It was probably the most frightening experience of my life. At first I thought I was dreaming as the room started to shake it sounded similar to a train or jet engine. Then the sound of the smashing glass and falling masonry woke me up instantly. The power went out so I couldn't see much. I got out of bed and stood under the door frame. Then stood there for a few seconds. There was a hole in the roof and water started to drip all over me because there was a water tank in the roof space. Then I ran up the stairs to my mum and niece and stayed up there until the shaking stopped. (People were shocked that I could even stand led alone run up the stairs. Lol.) The shaking lasted almost a minute. My aunt somehow slept through most of it, she is an extremely heavy sleeper. The only reason why she woke up is because a picture frame fell on her head!

The house looked like it had been turned upside down. 50" plasma dropped to the floor. Luckily nobody died. However I believe if the earthquake happened during the day or even 4 hours earlier there would've been deaths because of falling bricks/masonry from buildings in the city.

We also had a 5.0 magnitude aftershock at school when we were on the second floor. It's quite interesting as lots of the boys acted tough saying the earthquake wasn't scary and then they get all jumpy when we have an aftershock. Lol. Not all the boys acted tough. I didn't. ;D

We still get aftershocks every so often.
Now how about your story?

Sorry for bad English.
