Intel partners with Nokia for new mobile computers

According to Intel and Nokia, their goal is to create a new mobile platform capable of combining high-bandwidth mobile communications, Internet connectivity, and the power and efficiency of computers.

The new mobile computers will come in a form to be pocketable and be a combination of smartphones, netbooks and notebooks and possibly similiar to the Internet Tablets but more powerful.

Software wise, Intel and Nokia plan to use open source platforms such as Maemo and Moblin, which were mentioned.

No launch date or price have been mentioned

Thanks for the information. Can you say whats that Maemo and Moblin mean and how is it useful?
 
maybe this will help:

"Maemo was developed with a focus on the pocket device experience and it's not restricted to any particular processor architecture. Moblin is optimised for the Intel architecture, with projects for MIDs and a host of other embedded solutions". The plan is to work together and enable "common technologies across both distributions" so that Intel and Nokia can develop solutions jointly that run on both Maemo and Moblin.
